Relay for Life Team Works Towards a Cure
Relay For Life Team
White River Valley Electric Cooperative
White River Valley Electric Cooperative’s Relay For Life
team
exemplify the cooperative spirit and its commitment to community.
Since 2002, the employee‐members of WRVEC’s Relay For Life team have raised $32,422.14 to benefit the American Cancer Society through the Relay For Life of Taney and Stone Counties. What’s more, year after year WRVEC ranks among the top fundraisers of the event. For the past five years WRVEC’s team has been in either the Silver (+$3500) or Gold (+$5000) fundraising club.
Cancer does not discriminate and the employees of WRVEC have united in the common goal of eliminating cancer. For example, the WRVEC team created an “i hate cancer” t‐shirt that they
sold (as a wholesaler) to other teams to use as a
fundraiser. Last year alone, the t‐shirts were
directly responsible for generating over $10,000
for the cause.
In addition, the cooperative spirit is epitomized by the way the team works together. By pooling their resources and individual talents the group has initiated several successful fundraising events including:
Silent auctions
All‐employee bar‐b‐cues
Golf tournament
Dress down for a cure
Employee cook book
Raffles
Community garage sale and
Ice cream socials.
