Warehouseman Renders Aid To
Rollover Accident Victim

Russell Korzekwa & Steve Jonas
Karnes Electric Cooperative, Inc.

On the morning of September 1, 2009, Karnes Electric Cooperative employee Russell Korzekwa came upon Mr. Francisco Vasquez lying on the ground. As Russell got closer, he realized that Mr. Vasquez had fallen off a ladder while cutting a limb with an electric chainsaw. Mr. Vasquez had climbed about 10 feet up the ladder when he lost his balance and fell onto a gate. Russell called Steve Jonas, KEC employee, for help. He then called the Pleasanton district office and had them call 911. Russell talked to Mr. Vasquez to keep him calm until the EMS arrived.

Mr. Vasquez appeared to have been lying on the ground for quite a while before Russell found him. His blood pressure was low and he had possible breaks to his hip, leg, and arm. EMS determined that his condition was critical before they transported him to the hospital.

Because of the temperature and severity of the accident, the technicians said that Russell and Steve had most likely saved his life.
